Grech - Joseph E. of Northport, NY passed away peacefully on July 21, 2011 at the age of 77. Joe was the beloved husband and soulmate of Patricia R. and devoted father of Amy, Andrew and daughter-in-law Denise (nee Kiernan). Joe was born in Manhattan to Dominic and Antoinette Grech who immigrated from Malta. Joe is survived by sisters Maryanne Palmadessa of Lake Katrine, NY and Vivian Lawrence of Wharton, Texas. Joe spent much of his life being a fabulous role model to his two sisters-in-law, Kim K.V. McClain and Gale L. Polak who both adored him. Joe also had numerous nieces and nephews who loved his strong, wise and gentle manner. His wonderful sense of humor, zest for life and ability to care for his family, friends and neighbors will be deeply missed. He will always be unforgettable to those who love him. Joe was a proud Marine Sergeant in the U.S.M.C. and served as a peacekeeper in Korea in the 1950s. He was a dedicated employee of Grumman for forty years where he worked as a Systems Analyst. Among other projects, Joe worked on the Apollo program's lunar modules that landed on the Moon. Family will receive friends at Nolan-Taylor Funeral Home, 5 Laurel Ave., Northport, NY on Sunday, July 24, 2011 from 2-5 and 7-9pm. The funeral mass will be at St. Phillip Neri Church, 344 Main Street, Northport, NY at 10 am on Monday, July 25, 2011. Interment will follow at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY. In memory of Joe, donations may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or the American Lung Association.
