Although I did not know Helen outside of the Rug Hooking Community, the time that I did spend with her has made me a better person, and teacher. She was a gracious and nostalgic woman who would speak kindly about everyone she knew and those who knew her would do the same.She loved nature. She could be excited by the colors in an autumn leaf, and reproduce it even more magnificently in wool. My memories of her in her studio, or at her table having a cup of tea are very fond.I loved to hear her stories about rug hooking or about her life. By teaching me to hook, she gave me the knowledge I needed to be able to express my creativly using wool, and for that I will truly be forever grateful. Her eyes saw only colorful sunny days, and it was an honor to know her.
