Frere - Harold Decosta, the only son of the late Wolston and Ernestine Frere passed away on April 16th at the age of 87. Leaving from the Northport VA Medical Center Nursing home in Northport Long Island, New York, where he resided for over thirty years and became attached to the many staff members and patients. Born in Brooklyn, New York where he attended the Chelsea Vocational Senior High School before leaving to volunteer in the US Army in May of 1944 at the age of 18. He was stationed at Camp Upton in New York and later Camp Durham in North Carolina before becoming ill. The family credits the Northport VA Medical Center's doctors, nurses, aides and volunteers in making the home feel like a palace; with his longevity , bringing joy and comfort to him for over the 30 years that he was a resident. He will be sadly missed, Harold leaves to mourn his passing his beloved Sister, Pearl Lord, Nieces Arlene, Jessica, Kim and Nephews, Stanley, Roy, Arthur and Wallace; a host of grand, great-grand, great-great grand nieces and nephews and the caring staff at Northport VA Medical Center.
