Nicholas Zaffiris of Crabmeadow Beach, Northport, on November 19, 2015 86 years of age. Beloved husband of Joan. Loving father of Livia Zaffiris, Nicholas Zaffiris and his wife Jodi, and Robert Zaffiris and his wife Suzanne. Cherished Grandfather of Meaghan, Colleeen, Nicole, Abbey, Sabrina, Robert, Christopher, and Brandon. Nick was born to Kiriakitsa and Costas Zaffiris in NY, NY, in July of 1929 where he, his brother, and two sisters lived on 52nd Street. He graduated high school and then took a stab at technical school. He met his future wife, Joan Romeo, while on a weekend upstate. In 1951, Nick enlisted in the army and went to Korea where he became a regimental food specialist, and he was a recipient of the Bronze Star for outstanding service. Nick and Joan married after that and shortly after their first year had their daughter, Livia. They lived in the family home in Astoria, Queens. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Northport where Joan currently resides. Nick, a realtor and builder by trade, custom built his home by Blanchard Lake. He opened a liquor store in East Northport with his brother-in-law Albert. The Zaffirises had two more children, both sons, Nicholas, and Robert who survive him as well as his daughter and his wife of 57 years. He has eight grandchildren. Nick will always be remembered by the phrase, “Let’s Do It!” He was always up for a game of tennis, loved to snow ski, loved the beach and water skiing. We will all miss him terribly.
