Obituary of Theodore G. Bushell, Esq.
Ted Bushell was born in Brooklyn 1924. He moved to Northport, LI in 1932 and graduated from Northport HS in 1942. Ted's warmest memories of High School centered on athletics. He captained the football, basketball and baseball teams while earning 10 varsity letters. Ted's athletic career culminated with him being drafted by the St. Louis Browns professional baseball team (now the Baltimore Orioles).
Upon graduation from High School, Ted attended Drew University, Princeton University and received his J.D. from New York University. Ted is a WWII veteran having served in The Marine Corps from 1943-1945.
Ted was admitted to the NY Bar in 1951 and began his law career by joining with his father (William) in Northport. Ted worked from his office at 7 Bayview Ave for 60 years.
Ted was very active in the community. He belonged to the Rotary, The Republican Club, The Legion and the Mason's. He also served as Police Justice for Northport Village. He was a very active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Later in life Ted became very passionate about badminton and helped to form a club that competed in regional tournaments.
Ted was married to Elizabeth for 50 years until her passing in 2003. Ted is survived by his 3 children (Janet, Lynn and Doug) and 4 grandchildren (Katherine, Allison, Jack and Kaylee).
