Obituary of Louise Pasternack Borst

Borst, Louise Pasternack, 83 of Fort Salonga, NY passed away on August 2, 2016 from complications of Parkinson’s disease. The funeral services will be held at Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home at 10AM Friday, August 5, 2016, 5 Laurel Avenue, Northport, NY. Visitation will be held at 2 – 4 and 7 - 9PM on August 4. Burial will follow the funeral at Calverton National Cemetery at Calverton, NY. Louise was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 9, 1933. She attended school in Oceanside, NY before moving to Mineola, NY and graduating from Mineola High School in 1950. She continued on to receive a stenographer degree from Packard Junior College in 1951. Louise married her high school sweetheart, Robert G. Borst on November 25, 1951. They would have been celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary this year. While Louise was raising her 5 children she went back to school and received her Master’s in English Literature in 1968 from Stony Brook University in New York. Louise worked as a social worker and then a probation officer for Suffolk County, NY for over 20 years and positively affected many lives. She enjoyed time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. She was actively involved in Suffolk County Police Association. She was also involved in the Kismet Shrine and Elks Club with her husband, Bob. Louise is survived by her loving husband, Robert, her dear brother Fred Pasternack (Elizabeth), her 5 beloved children, Larry (Teresa), Cathy Karunaratne, Linda, Robert and Betty Green (Jim), as well as her 8 cherished grandchildren Jonathan, Justin (Maria), Cara (Jack), Tim, Sean, Shea, Erin and Dana, her great-granddaughter, Scarlett and many other family and friends. Louise is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Anna Pasternack, her daughter, Debra and her son-in-law, Bandhu Karunaratne. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Disease Foundation. The family of Louise Pasternack Borst wishes to thank all her family and friends for a wonderful life.
