Mr. Geddes was more than a role model, mentor, and musical coach ... he was my friend ... and arguably my best friend throughout my high school years. Anyone who knew me well was aware of the strife of my home life. My Geddes was always there for me. While we never discussed those matters, he most assuredly knew and always made himeself available to offer the encouragement and support for my interest in music that never materialized at home. He forstered and cultivated my talen and so much believed in me that he personally recommended me for admission to the dean of Crane School of Music; his alma mater. In no small part to his enforsement and belief in me, I was admitted. Thirty-five years on, I continue to aspire to be the same loving, caring, approachable, relatable, respectable, and influential man as Mr Geddes. Thank you Mr. Geddes ... for everything. My son is taking Sax in school- his first year. Brought back fond memories of band at JFKHS ('83) under the leadership of Mr Geddes. He was the cool, young teacher- even let us put his name on our "band ski trip" flyer. I will always have fond memories of that time. He's gone far too soon and has impacted more lives than he knew. Beautiful tribute, John. Rich Shulman- awful alto sax player.

Roger was more than just a customer to me at the bank. He cared so much about my progress in my master's program, always trying to make connections for me, and checking on how I was doing. He brightened my and all of my coworkers days every time he came to the bank with his positive attitude and warm sense of humor. I'd even go out to the ATM just to chat with him for a little bit to see how he was doing. I'm going to miss him dearly.

I'm so sorry for your loss - Roger was a dear friend for four years at the Crane School of Music. We were floor mates in Van Housen dormitory our sophomore and junior years, and housemates our senior year, as well as fraternity brothers. He also taught with a former student of mine for years, Joey Galante. I always respected Rog's musicianship, and will always remember his fiercely loyal friendship.

I am so sorry to hear this news. Mr. Geddes was kind, fun, dedicated, and caring. I remember how proud and joyful he was when his daughter was born. After so many years of parenting his band, he was super excited to be a parent. My best to his family. I hope he had many years of skiing with them after I graduated in '88.
