Anne Marie, My heart breaks for you and your family in the loss of your dear mother. I did not have the privilege of meeting her, but from what you have shared with me, she must have been a beautiful, wonderful woman! I cannot tell you what a privilege it was to have such a great lady in my life for so long. Especially the last three years being able to visit you at my moms house was a gift. For me and my children.
All the great memories I have will be in my heart for the rest of my life. I was lucky enough to have spent my summers with her in a tiny town, Southbridge,MA. I hated summer camp but going to see my Memere for the summer was awesome and the best memories only I have.
Going to Spags, angel food cake, playing with my cousins, reading books, spending hours just talking about this and that. May not seem like a lot but those where the years I learned who I was. I learned to love myself and the quiet that surrounded me when it was just we two.
I got my spunk from her. I got my pushiness from her. I got my stubbornness from her. I got my love of family and I believe my deep ingrained need to protect those I love with can be described as fierce passion, but most of all I got my faith from her.
Rest In Peace Memere, God has finally called you home. I know you're flying high, free from what held you back here on earth especially the last few years. Sad for myself, yes, but the happiness I know you feel seeing all who passed before you makes it ok for those of us left behind. I know this is what you have been praying for. God finally answered. Say hello to my Dad please and come visit me. You know I see.
You were then, and will forever be, my light, my angel.
