Sitting around sharing memories with my family and the topic of 6th grade , flashbacks of Mr Adamo came to me and I found myself here.. After all these years this news bothered me.. He was my 6 th grade teacher at Sachems Waverly ave elementary school.. My favorite memory was the class trip to go roller skating, each girl was made to feel special when he skated with each one of us, that was 40 yrs ago..He was a sweet man.. My condolences to his family..

Mr Adamo was my favorite teacher in Elwood Middle School because he just made me laugh every period because that was what he was best at. Mr Adamo was a funny teacher in a lot of ways. One way is that he always sang in class and he always made jokes at what period it was in our classroom. He was great for our class. All he did was make us laugh every period because of what he said and how much he inspired us. He was a teacher that gave us great quotes to always succeed for our education and when we get older. He inspired me in a lot of ways, and I knew he was going to on the first week of school. He was a great teacher and the best I ever had.

May the care and love of those around you provide comfort and peace to get you through the days ahead. Our most sincere condolences.
Both Katy and Drew loved having Mr. Adamo in 6th grade. Katy recalls a time when she was crying in the hallway and Mr. Adamo took her aside to comfort her and cheer her up. Drew recalls his infectious laugh and being introduced to several books that he throughly enjoyed. He was truly an amazing teacher and will be missed.

My three sons all had Mr. Adamo, and he was each of their favorite teachers. They often came home laughing and sharing stories and his jokes with us. My youngest son, Connor, who has him now, even went so far as to videotape his extra help session last week, and we all sat here watching it that night and laughing. When I had to email or talk to him as a parent, he was always supportive. As a colleague, he continued to support and encourage me when I was looking for a job. I often subbed in 6th grade, and he would yell down the hallway and laugh that I looked like one of the kids. His laughter and loud voice rang through the building; his jokes and singing brought a smile to everyone's day. He would always tell me to call him Al, and I just couldn't. To me, I met him first as a parent, and he was "Mr. Adamo" even to me! He was a great teacher and person, and his presence was as huge as his voice carrying in the halls. The Morans would like to express our deepest condolences to his family, faculty and friends. We all loved him, and his memory will always be in our hearts.

It was our pleasure to know Mr Adamo for several years as the Director of our local Town of Huntington Playground Camp. While his booming voice could seem intimidating at first, campers, counselors, and parents alike quickly came to know him as a warm and caring man with a big heart. My daughter, Rachel, was thrilled to learn she would have Mr Adamo for her Science teacher at Elwood Middle School this year and felt a special connection with him because of summer camp. I'm sure all of his students past and present were inspired by his words "Never stop climbing until you reach the top of the rainbow!" He also began the school year by having the class say aloud "I am amazing" over and over again to encourage them to be their best everyday. Mr Adamo had a terrific sense of humor as well, often breaking into song and teaching his students not to take themselves too seriously. What an amazing teacher! Our hearts go out to his family and friends as they mourn the loss of this very special man. He will be sorely missed by his students, campers, counselors, their families, and all whose lives he touched.
Rest In Peace Mr Adamo

We are sending the Adamo family our deepest sympathies. Mr. Adamo was my daughter's favorite teacher this year and he always made Emma smile! He encouraged her to be the best she could be daily and never stop climbing until she reached the top of the rainbow. The lasting impact Mr. Adamo has had on Emma in these past few months will last a lifetime. You and your family are in our prayers now and always.
