Obituary of Frank Mitchell Corso, Sr.

Frank Mitchell Corso, Sr. of Huntington, New York died on Sunday morning September 3, 2017. He was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised his family on Long Island. He was a trial attorney who has been practicing law since 1951 in private practice. He was the principal of the Law Offices of Frank Mitchell Corso, P.C. based on Long Island. He was admitted to practice law in the state of New York , Washington, D.C., Federal Courts and Military Courts.  He regularly tried cases before the New York State Supreme Court in Nassau County, Suffolk County and the counties of New York City. He also appeared before the New York State of Court of Appeals in Albany, New York on matters of appeal. He was a member of various bar associations including Nassau County and Suffolk County, New York State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.  He was recognized by the Nassau County Bar Association for fifty plus years of excellence in the practice of law. He was an expert in Medical Malpractice, Personal Injury, Corporate/Business Law and Wills/Estates. He has been recognized by Super Lawyers and other organizations as one of the best lawyers. He was providing legal guidance to clients up to his untimely death. Even at the hospital he was requesting certain matters be addressed for his clients. He became friends with many of his clients. He was that kind of a person. He has won top awards with jury trials for clients he represented on personal injury and medical malpractice cases.
He served with pride in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He received most of his military training as an infantry man at Fort Dix, New Jersey. While as part of his service in the Army he was assigned to the JA office where he was to defend soldiers who has issues before them. He did his best to eliminate charges against each soldier he was assigned to. He wanted no scares on their military record.

He was a public servant as well. He ran for town council man in 1961 in the Town of Oyster Bay and United States Congress for the second congressional district in New York in 1963-1964. He remained active in politics for many years. He was an outstanding public servant. He served on many boards as a board of director for both public companies and not for profits including but not limited to Knogo Corporation, WLIW Public Television on Long Island.  He was a Boy Scout during his youth and later became active in Boy Scouts of America on Long Island with Troop 22 of Dix Hills, New York. 
During his congressional run he was invited to the White House by President Lyndon Johnson and appeared on Capitol Hill before many committees on various matters he was concerned with. A time he often remembered is when President Johnson and staff sang happy birthday to him while at the White House by the United States Marine Band in the summer of 1964. He had the support of Robert F. Kennedy during his run for congress and Mr. Kennedy appeared with him at events and taped recordings for him for his campaign.
Governor Hugh Carey of New York who was a law school classmate of his appointed him to select posts during the time the governor was in office including at the United Nations Development Corporation
He was always focused on his family and instilled a great sense of being a public servant and doing right by all no matter who the person was.
He had four children with his wonderful wife Dorothy Corso. Beloved father of Frank (Victoria) Corso, Jr., Elaine Corso, Patricia (Philip) Fiorello, Dorothy (Harold) Roberts. loving grandfather of Nicole Fiorello, Frank Corso III, Harold Roberts, Ashley Corso, Corey Roberts, Emily Corso, Alec Roberts and Candice Roberts. Cherished great grandfather of Christian Fiorello.
Visting is Wednesday September 6 at 7-9 PM, and Thursday September 7 at 2-5PM and 7-9 PM.
Funeral Mass is at 9:30 AM September 8 at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Roman Catholic Church, Centerport, New York. Interment to follow, with U.S. Army Military Honors, at Saint Charles Cemetery, East Farmingdale, New York
