                                   “Captain Denny”

Dennis Martin O’Grady was born on February 2, 1967 in Port of Spain, Trinidad, the son of Susan and Martin O’Grady.

Dennis was raised in Lloyd Harbor and educated primarily in Cold Spring Harbor, graduating from the Seoul Korea Diplomatic High School in 1985.  He also attained his Captain’s license.  Dennis was subsequently a resident of Centerport and for most of his years was a resident of Montauk.

Dennis was a man of the sea.  From his first Boston Whaler at the age of 12 he worked and lived on the water in his restored Hattaras Yachts.  In Montauk he Captained, and was a talented master mechanic fixing anything that floated from local fishing boats to 100 plus foot yachts at Star Island Yacht Club.  In the past few years he ran his own yacht mechanic service “Mad Dog Marine”.

However Dennis’ true gift was to give absolute love, loyalty and assistance to his myriad of friends reaching back to days in kindergarten.  Dennis was also devoted to his family and we to him,

Dennis is survived by his mother Susan O’Grady, his Stepfather, Chris Dougherty, sisters Ellen Patterson and Margaret Minardi, niece Vanessa Chiamanti, nephews John Patterson and Max Minardi, great nephew Wyatt Alexander Minardi and cousin Samantha Wiehl.
