Obituary of Frank Fischer

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our father, Frank Fischer. He passed peacefully, yesterday, December 9, 2017, surrounded by our mom Carol Fischer and his 3 children Greta (Mark) Lawn, Chris (Melissa) Fischer and Adrienne (John Karlquist) Scamardella.

Frank battled the last 5 years with Parkinson's disease and dementia. Our mom was our strength through all of this. Our father's greatest joy in life was helping people. Whether as a police officer, husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, friend, stranger or being "the Mayor" at the gym. He was a great man. Although it is difficult to do right now, we know his final wish would be that we all get through this time together; that we return to smiling and celebrate life. He loved snowstorms and waking up today to see a winter wonderland is a graceful sign that he is finally at peace and his fight is over.

Frank was a retired NYPD Lieutenant and was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he held the rank of Sergeant.

In addition to his wife and children, Frank was cherished by his granddaughters Cara, Grace, Cailyn, Avery and Emma. He is also survived by his sisters Eleanor (the late Rich) Barkey, Ruth (Bill) Stuart, The late Margaret (Jerry) DiPreta and many nieces and nephews. Frank was predeceased by his parents Albert and Margaret (nee Heeb) Fischer and his son in-law Joseph Scamardella.

Memorial visitation will be 2-5 & 7-9 PM on Monday, December 11, 2017 with a funeral service at 8PM. Donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org, in his memory, would be appreciated.
