I had the great privilege of being room mate with Mac when we were at Florida Southern College I was a sophomore when Mac was a senior. He was massively talented, funny, and a great friend and mentor. I am sorry that we lost contact but certainly want to convey my condolence to all of his family, Margie and their children and Robert. I know that all whom Mac touched in his full life were equally affected by him.

I have just learned of Mac's passing. I was a freshman in high school when Mac made his appearance at Webb Chapel Methodist Church and the Senior High MYF. He was assigned to us by SMU as a "student" minister. Needless to say he was a big hit with all of us. Our memories of his time at Webb Chapel will always be some of the BEST. While he was there we put on at least 2 "Talent Shows" they were about 2 hours of jokes, skits, music, walk ons that I am sure Laugh In copied. He always did a skit by himself. One was of a woman "him" getting dressed for the day. He always had fun games for us to play at MYF. Christmas caroling, fund raising auctions of the MYF students. Programs and studies sponsored by the Methodist Church. He made a lasting impression at Webb Chapel and although the other student minister Ryan was much cuter, Mac was the one we all loved the most.

To Mac's family:
This wonderful man (and in 1965 the wonderful woman Margie) guided me through the perils of being a teenager and opened a spiritual world to me and so many at First Methodist Church, Camden, ARKANSAS (AR). We loved these 2 so much. I continued in touch with Mac up to last October when I had the joy of visiting with him in person at his home in Huntington. I feel so fortunate to have had him as a part of my life. He and Margie continued to help me and support me for so many years after they were in Camden. Margie, if you are reading this, I'm sending you so much love. Remember the cat having kittens on your bed while I was babysitting your first child????? I'm the organist-choirmaster at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Little Rock now. And if it wasn't for the 2 of you, most likely I would not be doing what I love so much. Thank You. May Mac rest in peace and may light perpetual shine upon him.

I am very sad to have heard of Mac's passing. He was a major influence on my life as I was growing up in Islip NY. Here was a very caring man who strived so hard to impart lessons of faith and life to those he knew, He was always there to help no matter what the issue and was alway ready to "rap" (as he liked to say) about what ever was on your mind. Thanks so much Mac - the world is a better place today because of you.. Rest in Peace.

My mind has been flooded with memories of Mac and the time we spend together. Mac made mine, and so many people's lives better. We are truly richer and more
grace-filled people for having known you, my friend,. Your honesty, warmth and humor allowed you to see the world differently. You taught me to trust my creative side (limited as it is) and to believe in that inner voice. Thank you, my friend for always being gracious and willing to share your life. Our nearly 40 years of friendship are invaluable, and I consider it an honor to have been a part of your life. You taught and shared with me so much I will miss you terribly and always carry you in my heart.
My prayers to Emkay, and J.J. and their families.
Love, Eric Fjeldal

Mac touched so many lives with gentle wit, joy and honesty. We shared so many happy times at meals and movies. Good clergy fare like "Blazing Saddles" and "Young Frankenstein". He reached inside his family heritage, his journey through pain and joy, and found lessons to share with all of us. His friendship was a great gift and again we know, "Love is eternal".
He knew i would tell this one more time. In a self-help circle in my parsonage living room Mac wanted to express some anger. I got him a stack of Melmac dishes that said Unbreak-
able on the back. He smashed. We all laughed as we picked up the pieces. We will keep Mac and he will keep us.

I am greatly saddened by Mac’s passing, but so lucky to have known him. There are few people in life I have meet that we’re as generous , supportive and greatly respected than Mac. It is so rare to meet someone that had such a positive attitude that it permeated through the people around him. He will be greatly missed
