Ruth was truly the warmest, kindest, and most patient person I have ever known. She was a role model, who taught by example. i doubt she realized how revered she was. We all loved Ruth: She was a joyful, unique, nurturing, inspiring human. The world is a better place thanks to her; yet a sadder, emptier place without her.

A memory from Maxine Fountain, Township Theatre Group actress -- I think the show was BORN YESTERDAY: it was such a wonderful cast and I think many of the people in it aren’t around any more. Anyway, after the show we had a gathering at Ruth and Phil’s home. We were sitting around the coffee table in the living room and on the table was a small round pewter container with a lid on it. On top of the lid was a three dimensional butterfly with open wings and it appears to have landed on some flowers. Well, being a butterfly person, I was admiring it. I can describe it so well for one reason—Ruth gave to me and I still have it. Even though I have moved many times over the years, I would never part with it.
