Obituary of Margaret Mary Mulligan

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 21, from 7-9 PM at the Nolan Funeral Home, 5 Laurel Avenue, Northport, NY. A funeral mass will be celebrated the following day, Wednesday, August 22, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, East Northport, NY at 9:45 AM. Immediately following the mass at church will be a luncheon at the Northport Yacht Club from approximately 11 AM - 1 PM. Family and friends are asked to gather back at the funeral home by 1:15 PM for a procession to Calverton National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Outreach at St. Anthony’s would be appreciated. 
 
Margaret Mary Mulligan (Peggy) 87, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018, at the Hospice House in Lecanto, Florida surrounded by her extended family.
Peggy was born March 24, 1931 in the Bronx, NY to Florence (Frank) and Margaret Clarke McCarthy, both immigrants from Ireland. She grew up on Edison Ave. with her five brothers and sisters and attended Catholic Schools.
Peg was married to Paul G. Mulligan (6-25-14) for 64 years and they raised seven children in East Northport, L.I., N.Y.
Peggy was active in her church – St. Anthony’s of Padua – and volunteered in its outreach program. She was a Hospice volunteer for more than 20 years.
Peg was proud of her Irish heritage and continued Cali dancing well into her 80s. She was known to belt out an Irish ballad or two with minimal encouragement. 
Her employment career included many years in the human resource department with Estee Lauder cosmetic company in NY.
Peggy was predecesseased by her parents, her husband Paul and two brothers, Frank and Edward. She is survived by her sisters; Dolores Hoynes of Hobe Sound, Fl. And Pat Fitzsimmons of Jupiter, FL., and her brother Donald McCarthy of California.
She is survived by her seven children: Kevin and Connie of Crystal River; Gerry and Janet of Crystal River; Mary Pat of New York City; Brian of Austin, Texas; Terriann and Robert Giorgi of Midlothian, Va.; Jeannine Ortiz and her husband Dominic of Deer Park, NY; Daniel and Barbara of New Providence, N.J.
Peggy is also survived by 15 grandchildren; Jessica, Erin, Jeremiah, Christopher, Jeff, Connor, Nicholas, Daniel, Melissa, Anthony, Devin, Kristen, Aylin, Kenan, Kylie. Her extended family included seventeen great-grandchildren.
