When I heard the news about Paul today, my heart sank. Although I met Paul through work at UL, I consider him to be a friend, not just a colleague. My sincerest condolences to all the family. I pray that God's mercy and grace will provide comfort in this difficult time. Paul spoke of you often with me, and I know he was proud of his family. I wish I could have attended the services this week, but unfortunately, business commitments did not lend to me getting back to the east coast on time. On a professional level, Paul was a tremendous asset to not only UL, but to the industry as a whole. I have mentioned his passing to several persons in the IEEE Switchgear Committee, as well as to persons who are here with me at the NEC Code Panel meetings this week. To a person, they all spoke very highly of Paul, his passion, and his leadership in the industry. Many have indicated that learned much from Paul, and that they have missed him in the last several years, when he no longer attended these committee meetings. We will all miss Paul, and will keep the family in our thoughts and prayers.

My condolences to Paul's family and friends. I had the privilege of working together with Paul when I was learning about circuit breakers. He was a great guy to work along side of. He was an excellent engineer and a superb mentor. I miss his advice and guidance. His many years of contributions helped make UL the great company it is today. God bless Paul! I had the privilege of knowing Paul many years both professionally on UL Listing projects I had with UL and as a colleague in the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers Switchgear Technical Committee. I considered him a great friend and someone I deeply respected. We dined together on a number of occasions. So long, old friend.

My condolences to Paul's family and friends. I am sorry I could not attend Paul's funeral. I have daily treatments for prostate cancer. I have known Paul since 1974. He was my mentor when I started at UL. Actually he never stopped being my mentor and that of many other engineers both at UL and at UL clients. He was respected by clients and coworkers throughout the world. I think of him and the good times we had often. May he rest in peace, John Konz.
