Obituary of William H. Moles
With great sadness, the family of William H. Moles, known as Bill, announce his passing on November 27, 2018 at age 90, after a brief illness. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Patricia (Pat) Moles; his children Karen Rose, Kim and husband John Kelleher, Michael and wife Jen Moles, and Kerry Moles; his grandchildren Alex, Zachary, Daniel and wife Flavia, Shawn and wife Debra, Kaelie, Emily, Connor, Colton, Emma, Jake and Maya; his great-grandchildren Julianna and Madelyn, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Bill was predeceased by his brother (and hero) Kenneth Moles and his sisters, Norma Elliott and June Taylor.
Bill grew up in Spring Valley, New York. He graduated from Spring Valley High School and the State University of New York at Oswego, and held a graduate degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He and Pat settled in Northport, New York, where they lived for more than 50 years and raised their four children. Bill taught industrial arts and science at Finley Junior High School for 30 years. As a father he was ever-present, usually with an old-time song or a classic poem or a wise-crack, and always with a tape measure and a pocket full of nails - he could build anything, fix anything, and do just about anything. He filled his children's lives with exploration and adventure, and showed them a profound appreciation for life. His greatest joys included working in his wood shop, ski trips with family and friends, camping in his beloved St. John, golfing with his buddies, running into former students everywhere, reading, reciting and occasionally writing poetry, making music (harmonica, trumpet and finishing everyone's sentences with favorite song lyrics), enjoying the birds in his backyard, sitting by the fire with a glass of wine, and above all spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom he adored and who absolutely adored him back.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held in January, date and location to be announced.
