While I only knew Fred in later years, through his wife Doris, I always enjoyed talking with him. Behind his quiet manner, there was so much knowledge of history, and so much kindness. I will miss him.

I worked with Fred at CW Post in the '90s and found him to be a kind and supportive dept. chair for a young faculty member like myself. I was sorry to hear of his passing and although I won't be able to attend his funeral I will always have fond memories of Fred and my time at CW Post.
