My memories of Mike span over 52 years. We met as freshman at Post in the fall of 1967, and although we had absolutely nothing in common, we became great friends. We had many excursions over the years, playing freshman football, pledging KDR , rooming together for two years off campus, sharing a job at Ease Hill cleaners, and working together at New York Marine after graduation for two plus years. The stories of our time shared are too numerous to list, but we both looked back on them fondly. We had a relationship that although we didn't see each other that often, whenever we spoke or shared time together we picked up right where we left off and we were kids again. Mike was a special person with great values, he will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of spending time with him. He was truly loved by my family and myself, thank you for coming into our life.Rest in peace buddy.

I remember that Michael's passions were his family, football, golf, and automobiles. He played football for the CW Post Pioneers in 1968 under Coach Dom Anile with a 7-3 Winning season and is listed in the their 2012 Record Book. I had never seen a football game before meeting Mike, but came to appreciate what sports instilled in him, which was Leadership, Accountability, Pride, Competitiveness, Integrity, Service, Respect, Commitment, and Sportsmanship. These qualities were Michael's core values that he instilled in me and others when I worked with Mike back in the '70s for a small ship's chandlery called New York Marine that serviced the ships that docked in New York City Harbor. After his retirement I enjoyed my sister Denise's and his visits when we played golf at Whiskey Creek Golf Course overlooking Maryland's Appalachian Mountains and Eastern Continental Divide.
Thinking of you in this time of loss and my heartfelt condolences.
Thoughts are with you and his family,
Claudia Benack

Michael Seigel was a truly great man and a genuine inspiration for me. Uncle Mike was witty, warm, loving and mocking at turns, and always a genuine pleasure within our shared family. As I grew from childhood to adulthood, Mike's honesty and humor became inseparable from what I thought a man in our family should be, and what I myself strived to become as an adult. Seeing him at my wedding last year was an honor and a joy, and I can only hope he knows the esteem in which I hold him still.
All of my love goes to Denise, Pete, and Sarah, all good and beloved people who deserve peace and respite from their grief. I hold Mike and the whole Seigel family in my thoughts.
-Love, Curtis

Michael
I first met Michael when I was 12 years old. I had just moved up to the little front bedroom at our family home and so, I had first shot at seeing visitors coming to the front door. Michael was coming for his first date night with Denise, and I rushed to the front door to greet him and get a first look. Michael always loved telling the story of that moment, laughing at how he thought I was Denise and his mind was racing with thoughts, “she looks much younger than I remember. And, is this even legal”!
Over the next 4 years, as Denise and Mike navigated college, I navigated high school, with the best older brother I could have wished. Memories of Michael helping me learn to drive stick shift in his Jeep in the A&S parking lot, Michael dropping in to check on me when I pulled late night shifts at “Dungeon Donuts” because my skirts were “way too short” and those LILCO line men needed to be brushed back. But, the best memories were of cutting school and driving out to Riverhead or Cold Spring Harbor or Montauk with Mike. Michael had a real fondness for the rebel, the truant, the misfit adolescent. Other than my sisters, he was the person in my life, who had been there and seen it all, 53 years of my journey. And, through it all, he had my back. I will miss him terribly.
My thoughts tonight are for my sister, Denise, and Peter and Sarah, who had to suffer this heartbreaking loss in the setting of the Coronavirus Crisis. And so, confined to their homes by state order to “shelter in place” they were denied visits with Michael in his final weeks, and denied the presence and support of those, like me, who would want come to help them now. I send you all my love.

I will miss my brother forever. I am so sad but glad to have had warm recent visits with him recently. I know his wonderful family cared for him and he enjoyed his grandsons immensely. He longed for them and I am happy he was there for them. All my love, Linda
