I will remember Fran through my contacts with her in the United Teachers of Northport. Fran was a dedicated, kind and most professional colleague. May her soul soar heavenly heights on angels wings. Compassion and sympathy to her family and colleagues.

Miss La Duca was my librarian at Northport High School. She threw me out of the library on a semi-regular basis. She was an incredible support when I became a librarian and was working in Northport /East Northport Schools. She was a constant encouragement to me, recognizing my strengths, cheering me on wherever she could. In recent years, we had gotten much closer and she shared some childhood stories with me. What an amazing individual. One whose light will shine on in my heart and in my life forever.

Fran was my next door neighbor and was the first to greet us when we moved in a few months ago. Before we actually moved in, she ordered a town calendar and placed it with a note in our mailbox. We often exchanged notes this way after that. Her last one was a list of recommendations in the area. I built a friendship with her. I knew right away what a thoughtful and caring woman she was and looked forward to our conversations. As an example, I used to carry her garbage cans in. One day she asked me if I was doing that. I said yes. A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I were sitting in the house and we saw someone in our driveway. I looked out and it was her bringing my can in. Amazing lady. She was the same age as my own mother and I wanted to introduce them after the virus settled down. They would have been fast friends. I will truly miss her. Even though we knew each other a short time, she enriched my life. We are deeply sorry for your loss. Rest In Peace dear Fran.

Fran was a dear friend & colleague. She was one of the founders of the Suffolk School Library Media Association. We served together for many years on the board. She was dedicated to the school library profession. Fran was always volunteering to head committees offering her knowledge & insight. We became travel buddies on many Road Scholar trips. Fran loved to plan & map out a trip.
I will miss her dearly.

Fran was the consummate librarian. She was always eager to help anyone find information and she was a master researcher. She recognized the importance of scholarship and made it her professional aspiration to create a library that would be the intellectual center of our high school. I was in the library often and she was right there by my side to offer her assistance as I searched for materials to supplement the readings in my English classes. Additionally, she was an active member of our teachers’ union, and someone we all knew we could turn to for guidance and leadership. She didn’t need a parade or public recognition for her efforts; she simply saw what should be done and she did it, masterfully.
