I am so saddened to have come to find out about Irene by searching her name in the obituaries. I was her hairdresser for the past several years. I searched because I have not seen her in quite some time. She was an incredibley sweet woman! Always made clear how much she loved her family! How she’d get lobsters from Maine and steaks and lots of food. Loved her stories and how she had she had so much compassion for others. Clients become very dear to me through years of having them. She will be missed dearly, but never forgotten. My condolences to her family.

I did not know about Irene until now. My condolences. I have great memories of Irene. I had the privilege of working with her in the school district. How true, she was always ready for a party. She treated the support staff with utmost respect and appreciativeness. A fine lady for sure. May God bless Irene's family.

Irene was the guiding light during the brightest time in education. Her vision, her insight, and her creativity helped our district to be in the forefront of educational progress; to be on the cutting edge of educational ideas.
As administrators it was both a joy and hard work to work with Irene. She constantly pushed us to try new ideas, all with the intent of improving education for students. Irene also listened to the teachers-the masters of the craft and the art-to understand the implementation of the curricular progress the district was trying to accomplish.
Irene's great goal for all of her work was for students to love learning learning and that they be strong critical thinkers.
Irene's caring nature, hard work and genuine love for what she was doing resulted in in a career of unmatched success and unmatched love and admiration by all.
We love you,
Marty and Irene Nadler

Mrs.Taylor was my fourth grade teacher at Dickinson Avenue School. I had gotten a concussion outside the newly built 6-pack and she got a card and had all the kids sign it! I still have it. She was a great teacher. I am sorry for your loss.

Irene Taylor was truly “one of a kind.” Her enthusiasm, her creativity, her love for people, and her dedication to quality education were all boundless. She taught all of us so very much. Irene developed and implemented several important initiatives over the years. Many of our school district’s hallmark programs started as a “twinkle” in Irene’s eye. She has left a legacy which will be felt for decades to come. Irene was truly a blessing, and loved by all, especially us. Our deepest condolences to her family, whom she loved so very dearly. Love, Julie and Bill

To say that Irene was visionary is truly an understatement. After observing me teach a math lesson using a computer on a rolling cart at the high school in 1995, Irene asked "Do you think it is time to get a laptop for every student?" She always valued teachers' opinions and had kind words to say about everyone. She will be missed.

We are drinking wine from the glasses that Grandma Taylor gave us the moment she found out we got engaged. Thinking of her and her many thoughtful, loving gestures. Love, Billy &Merry

Irene was an innovative and creative educator who always sought to do what was best for our children. As her administrative intern one semester, it was a pleasure to work with her and others who sought to bring full day kindergarten to our district many years ago. She had passion and vision. She was always willing to encourage and support the enhancement of instruction and curriculum. She was a good, kind, generous woman who loved to share her enthusiasm for teaching and learning with others.
Be assured of my sincere sympathy for your loss of a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Love is eternal; and she will continue to love and inspire all with whom she shared this life.

In Robert Frost's poem "Mending Wall," the narrator's neighbor states, "Good Fences make good neighbors." This is so far from our experience of 28 years living next to our dear neighbors, Irene and Dick Taylor. Our backyards are seamless and there is a little walkway Dick made years ago that connects our backdoors. The walkway has a perennial planter and a sun powered lantern so, as Irene said, our "friends and family would know that their neighbors care about them." We mourned the loss of Dick seven years ago and now we mourn the loss of Irene. Irene always had time to spend with each member of our family —whether it was to enjoy a recent success, ask for advice, or just lend a sympathetic ear.
When Kevin and Ryan were in elementary school, Irene would ask what their reading level was. Then a few days later, books would arrive at a higher reading level. She always wanted to encourage those around her to move to the next level of achievement. Irene knew Kevin had seen "The Lion King" on Broadway. Therefore, when Ryan was old enough, he received tickets to "The Lion King" for Christmas. We were invited many times to enjoy the vacation house in Norwich, Vermont, and always with recommendations of places to visit. Irene was always interested in enhancing our children's education and experiences. When we spoke to our children about Irene's death, the common theme was that they are better people because they lived next to Mr. and Mrs. Taylor. I will deeply miss my friend, Irene. Just walking out my backdoor seeing Irene hanging her sheets on the clothesline, I would walk over to offer a lending hand. This would always turn into an interesting conversation and a loving "shared moment." Thank you, Irene. We were truly blessed to have you as our neighbor.

I am honored to have known a person so special as Irene. She loved children and life. Whenever there was a need she was there. A Great Educator, A Great Mother and A Great Friend. Irene will always be in my heart. I will always remember all the good times we had together and all that I learned from her. There truly is a special place in heaven for her. May she rest in peace.

I have a constellation of wonderful memories of my mother-in-law, Irene. The photo I’ve attached was taken during a family cruise. Mom wanted a special French dinner aboard the ship. As the photo attests, Mom was elegant wearing one of the three gowns she bought for the cruise.
The menu was a disappointment but rather than hurt her feelings, we ordered from it. Mom didn’t like the menu either and asked for an entree from one of the other restaurants. The restaurant obliged her (who could resist her?). Mom happily enjoyed her King Crab legs while the rest of us endured an awful meal. This has become one of the many fond memories that add to our intimate family quilt.
I miss you, Mom...

Irene was someone very special. I worked directly for her for many years, and she was a wonderful boss – always with a kind word and knowing just the right thing to say when I needed a boost. She cheered me on, praised me when she thought I was worthy, and let me know when I could do better. I treasure the years I worked for her, and I have missed her in the years since. I know that as much as she loved her job, her colleagues and students, the center of her heart was her family and the loving memories will sustain you all in this time of grief.
