I was so sorry to learn that Russ had died.
He was a good friend in high school. He was so talented whether it be drawing the Beatles or making music. I’ll never forget the day he said in art history class, “Let’s make a Mummy Movie!“ That moment certainly changed our last year in high school in so many great ways.
Next, he was one of us four Northport High School graduates who went off to Pratt Institute together to study art. Those were very interesting times. I mostly lost touch with Russ after then, last seeing him and his thoroughly impressive paintings he showed at the Northport Library. They were all masterful, brilliantly, and sensitively painted. He mentioned then how much he appreciated the work of Cezanne. For me, that said it all. So sorry to see you go Russ. You will be remembered and missed.

Russ and I were friends in the 70s he was an avid Beatle fan and a good musician, we were in a band together with two others and we played high schools and the battle of the band in the early 70s. When I moved to Maine we lost touch over the years but I will always remember playing music with him. Russ was a very god artist also he did a Beatle theme mural in our High school and it was beautiful. Russ my friend I wish we could have gotten together for a reunion but life gets in the way. You will always be remembered.

Russ was a very good friend to me during my years at Pratt. I remember the Marx Brothers routines he and his roommates spontaneously performed. Star Trek skits were another favorite. His personality and all of the kind conversations we had will be missed. May Russell's creative soul be at peace. Condolences to his family and other friends.
With love,
