Obituary of Thomas Patrick Kelly

Thomas Patrick Kelly

1972-2021

Tom passed away peacefully on Friday, January 8, 2020 surrounded by his family after a brief, but courageous battle with colon cancer. He was 48 years old.

He was born and raised in East Northport, a 1990 Northport graduate. He is the owner of Kelly Green Lawn Maintenance and Design. Those who knew Tom, know that he was one of the “good guys”. A hard working, talented, caring man who was loved by all who knew him. A true gentleman.

Tom was a rich man in the truest sense of the word. He was born into a loving family & created a loving family of his own. Married to the love of his life, Karen (Belger). Tom & Karen shared a wonderful life & three beautiful children; Kaitlyn, Thomas and Nicole. He loved them with his whole heart!

Tom was one of five children, born to the late Jack & Doris Kelly (Cow Harbor Deli). Although the youngest, he was everyone’s “go to guy”. There wasn’t anything Tom wouldn’t do for his family. He will be forever missed by his siblings; Maùreen Kelly- Chee and her husband Kam, Nancy Kelly Fauser, Marcella Fagan and her husband Tim, Jack Kelly and his wife Rori along with his sister-in-law Kathleen Cassata and her husband Jim, his brother-in-law Greg and his wife Tricia..... as well as his adoring nieces & nephews.

Tom also leaves behind his beloved dog Rey Rey.

Since Tom was diagnosed with colon cancer in June, everyone who asked him what they could do to help, was asked to “please get a colonoscopy”. Tom was never given that opportunity. Colon cancer is a silent killer, with very few or no symptoms. So today, please go to your doctor and ask to be checked, in fact insist on it for Tom.

No words can express the profound loss that is felt by all that knew him. He definitely took a piece of each of our hearts with him.

Visiting Nolan Funeral Home, 5 Laurel Avenue, Northport, NY Monday 2-5 & 7-9pm. Funeral Mass Tuesday 10am at St. Philip Neri Church, Northport. Burial to follow at Northport Rural Cemetery.
