Obituary of George Leslie Ayer

AYER, George L. of Asharoken, NY passed on March 3rd in his 98th year.

Beloved husband of 63 years of Joan Beatrice Ayer (d.) devoted father of George L. Ayer III (d.) Beatrice Ayer Vogel and husband Charlie, Tracy Ayer Aboff, Debbon Ayer Morrow, and husband Rob Morrow, and Michael John Ayer. Loving grandfather to Christine Caroline Herz, Hannah Leigh Vogel, Georgia Alexandra Vogel, her fiancee Keaton Brown, Amelia Ayer Aboff, her fiancee Paul Kominers, Tu Simone Morrow, Isabella Kathryn Ayer, Liliana Christine Ayer, Billion John Ayer and Michaela Beatrice Ayer. Great grandfather to Effie Mae and Nico Jones DeLair, Jack Bodhi and William Hudson Primo. Born and raised in Gloucester MA and a direct descendant to John Ayer, one of the earliest settlers of Massachusetts arriving from Scotland in 1635. He was a decorated WWII Marine Corps veteran who fought on Guadalcanal, Peleliu and other historic South Pacific battles. He was a successful businessman who spent many years in the cosmetics, advertising and marketing industries. He was Asharoken Police Commissioner and very active in Northport and Asharoken business and politics, and an advisor to Congressman Bob Mrazek. A member of the Northport Yacht Club, Northport Tennis Club, and Indian Hills Golf Club. Services to be held at family home. Burial at Arlington National Cemetery.
