While I don't remember much from middle school, I will never forget Ms. Rosenberg's English class in 1989. It was easy to see how much she loved her job and how good she was at it. She was interesting and had a captive audience. I always looked forward to her class each day. She was so much more than an English teacher to us. She connected with her students and enriched our learning experience. Rest in peace Ms. Rosenberg.

You were one the best teachers I ever had. My mother as a teacher sub in the district made sure that you were the one I was assigned as she had so much love for you. After taking your class I knew why. You made school interesting and learning fun. Thank you for all you did for your students and the children who went through Kings Park Middle School. You made a difference to me and my mother.

I miss and love you Ruth....my dear friend. We met at Fox Lane our first day in 7th grade and continued our friendship through High School. You always reminded me that I am 4 days older then you. Life took us both on many journeys and we continued to cry and laugh. You are a loyal friend and were always gracious to my children and granddaughters. Rest In Peace and May you be blessed. Wilma

I went to Fox Lane High School with Ruth and the last time I saw her was at our 40th reunion. I've attached a few photos of that fun evening, with breakfast the following morning. As you can see, she is wearing two beautiful scarves in these photos, and yes, she has Dr. Deborah Birx beaten by a long shot! I will always remember Ruth as a very sweet, classy lady. Everyone will miss her, and I know she leaves behind family and friends who love her, along with some great memories.
Sincerely,
Janet Nappi Roider

As the years pass by, there are fewer and fewer people with whom I share a past. Sandy was my first cousin and my only "girl" cousin. We shared happy memories and some that are not so easy to revisit. Sandy was my resource for remembering dates, important family events and smiles as we laughed about some of them.
We were so fortunate to have been able to visit with Sandy and Tom in Nashville in February 2020 at her nephew Eli's wedding, just before the pandemic. The attached photo is from that happy time. I want to remember Sandy that way, happy and optimistic. I will miss her.
Sandy and I shared a love of languages and I have translated the last lines from a poem called "Elevación" by Amado Nervo (a Mexican poet):
I LOVED, I WAS LOVED, THE SUN CARESSED MY FACE. LIFE, YOU OWE ME NOTHING. LIFE WE ARE AT PEACE.
Sid and I send our condolences and love to all the family.

Sandy had a great sense of humor..She was an excellent scrabble player ( online version is WORD) and won two thirds of the 15000 games she played. Before her heart transplant she beat me two thirds of the time also but after her transplant, I won most of our games..When I mentioned this to her, she remarked...” what can you do when they gave me a heart from someone who couldn’t spell” .We Will miss her..

I am so saddened to hear about the passing of Mrs. Sandy Rosenberg. I owe so much of who I am today to her. I first met Mrs. Rosenberg as I was attending my graduate program at Stony Brook University. By the end of the semester; I had the courage to give her my resume'. I will never forget the look on her face as I sat around the large oak table at an interview for a teaching position in our beloved little Kings Park School District. As my knees were shaking and I searched for the correct words to perfectly articulate my philosophy of teaching; I looked up at Mrs. Rosenberg who gave me the warmest smile and nod of assurance. That is who Sandy was. She was and educator and an administrator who helped you to believe in yourself. Her expectations were high but she also made sure that she would help you to obtain them. Our last time together was at her retirement party. I remember how beautiful she looked and her sweet sincere voice as she gave a speech acknowledging all who came to celebrate with her that evening. And once again, she adorned that smile. Thank you Mrs. Rosenberg for helping to shape and mentor so many students and teachers throughout the years. You will be greatly missed.
My deepest condolences to Mrs. Rosenberg's family.
Praying for strength and comfort to get you through this difficult time.
With Sympathy,

I only had a brief encounter with Sandy and was quick to learn that she was a special person. She was a guest at the home of a friend playing Mah Jongg when I was invited to observe the table because I was learning the game. Sandy was always smiling and friendly to me. The next time I met her, I sat at the table to play the game, and she complimented me when I lost a hand, boosting my spirits. It turned out that I learned that she was superintendent of schools when I was a first-year teacher at Kings Park Elementary and that she knew my first principal. We exchanged emails and began to play Words With Friends. Sandy helped everyone she met to feel that we are all connected. Her kindness was far-reaching. She will be missed by so many. Condolences to the family.

My condolences to Sandy’s family. She was a lovely woman and mentor to me throughout my student teaching and then hiring into the English department at WTR junior high in 1987. She couldn’t have been kinder or a better role model for a young and inexperienced teacher. Even today, I have such fond memories. RIP Sandy.

Mrs. Rosenberg was my English teacher at William T. Rogers Junior High. She was funny, kind, stylish (seriously, the woman had the nicest clothes), and incredibly warm and real. My lifelong love of Shakespeare began in her class with our field trip to see Taming of the Shrew. She knew the best way to learn his works was to see them, not just read them.
Through the years, she was always kind whenever I'd see her - whether it was back visiting WTR or when I worked at my dad's laundromat where she'd bring her clothes in to be done. She'd always give me a warm hello and ask how I was doing. I'm saddened to learn she's no longer with us.
I'll miss your presence in this world, Mrs. Rosenberg. God bless you and your family.

Sandy was an incredibly special person. From the moment I met her, I liked her, and quickly grew to love her as a teacher, then a mentor, and then a friend. She nursed my class through difficult times, like our parents’ divorces and our first heartbreaks, and also shared in our happinesses, like first loves and college acceptances.
Sandy exuded compassion, intelligence and a clever wit that could cause you to laugh on the worst day, like when my childhood dog was put to sleep after falling ill in 7th grade. When she saw that I was nearly inconsolable, she took me aside and told me that the dog was fortunate and that she thought we should start putting older people to sleep as well, making me laugh through my tears. She always inspired creativity and made important lessons enjoyable. She encouraged humor as often as possible, allowing me to share my O.J. Simpson and Unabomber themed sentences in class to keep our vocabulary lessons interesting.
After I graduated from Kings Park, Sandy was a terrific correspondent and saw me through the rest of school and the start of my career, offering support and advice as she had since I was 12. When my father passed away, I channeled Sandy’s strength in delivering his eulogy, as I knew she had done for her parents. She had taught me that when you knew you had to do something, you would have to find a way to muster up the strength and just get through it.
Whatever was going on in our lives, we always made time to get together. We would discuss life events and world news, and grimace together about grammar mishaps we had witnessed. More recently, she and Tom attended my wedding and then shared the joy of my daughter’s first year. Sandy sent Samantha books every month for her baby library and then a beautiful unicorn rocking horse for her first birthday to make sure Samantha knew Sandy cared about her, even from afar after our last pre-pandemic visit to Florida.
Over the course of 26 years, Sandy and I enjoyed many deep conversations and laughs about life, love, and even death. She was an endless source of love and support and I will be forever grateful for the many visits we were able to have across different states and different times of life. My life would not have been complete without her presence in it, and like many of her other students, I will think of her with love and fondness always.

My memories of Sandy go back to 1976-77. Rich and Ally were about 2 1/2 years old and several of the moms in the area decided to form a play group for their youngest children. Each week another mother would host the play group at their home to teach the children socialization and eventually give each mom a short break. The children remained together through nursery school. Most of the children were separated during elementary school.
In Jr. High Ally and Rich were reunited, attending the same High School and then college.
During this time both Sandy and my lives began to change. Our children did eventually marry and gave us 3 beautiful grandchildren.
Even though our lives drifted, Sandy and I remained friendly. I hold a deep respect and admiration for Sandy and I regard her as a true superhero and friend.
