Obituary of John G. Wischhusen

WISCHHUSEN – John G., a longtime resident of Fort Salonga on January 18, 2023, at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Beatrice ("Bette") for 56 years. Loving father of Doreen (Michael) Monahan and John David. Cherished grandfather of Nora and Kevin Monahan, and Jordan Wischhusen. John was blessed with a warm personality, a quick wit, and a gift for making everyone laugh. "Mr. Wisch", as his students called him, retired after 31 years of dedicated service as an Earth Science teacher in the Huntington School District. He was a natural born educator who instinctively brought out the best in his students, and one of the proudest moments in his life was when the Huntington High School, Class of 1997, dedicated their yearbook to him. John was the very best of the best, an amazing husband, father, and grandfather, and we were lucky to have him in our lives. John will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by those blessed by his love and friendship. Visitation will be on Monday, January 23, from 4-8pm, at the Nolan Funeral Home, 5 Laurel Avenue, Northport, NY. Funeral Mass, Tuesday, January 24, 10am, at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, 20 Cheshire Place, East Northport, NY. Cremation private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, www.LLS.org, would be appreciated by the family.
