Dear Joyce,
I never met you in person. I learned of your spirited nature through Anne, Dennis and Julia. You have a remarkable daughter in Anne. Her creative heart brings beauty to the world and nourishes the souls of those who are touched by her gifts. You have every reason to be proud as you reflect on the harvest of your life. Your children, grandchildren, and the many ways you served those in need bring light to this Earth. They are standing on your shoulders now.
Wishing you peace as you journey on.
With blessings,
Linda Simons

My deepest condolences to Joyce’s family, friends and loved ones.
Joyce and I worked together at the VA as social workers in community residential care. She was a fierce advocate, direct, outspoken, tenacious, told it like it was, clinically astute, always committed, pragmatic, would go the extra mile, unwavering in dedication to the veterans. The few times I was at her home, her “green thumb” and garden aesthetic was breathtaking, inspiring and enviable to say the least.
Again, deep condolences to all Joyce’s family, friends and loved ones.

So sad to hear this news. We didn’t know each other very long but bonded immediately. Joyce and Phil were two of the people I regretted leaving when I moved from Northport. Still have the plant she gave me in my kitchen and it prompts fond thoughts. My condolences to her family.

It was my honor to have been considered one of Joyce’s many friends. She lived a life that only a few can attain and I loved hearing her stories both recent and in her younger days. Her garden was something I always tried to learn more about and would ask her questions frequently. She always gave me the Latin name of the plant in question so I had to clarify by asking her the common name. Her mind was remarkable. She will be remembered for so many many reasons and I will cherish the time we spent together always. Rest in Peace my friend.
