Condolences to Jeff’s family. I was going to reconnect with Jeff after so many years when I found out of his passing.. We drifted apart when my family moved out of state. Jeff was my best friend in High School and at KU. He was just a joy to be around. I’m glad I knew him. God best him and his family and we’ll meet again some day.

Jeff was one of my favorite yoga instructors ever, and his teachings will live on.
I learned a lot from him and am very grateful that I got to be his student.

Jeff, you and Te were a blessing to me. After injuring my back in 2003, I happened upon the Long Island Yoga Association while just getting started in the study of Yoga and luckily met both you and Te. You gave an Iyengar Yoga workshop, and I was hooked.
Having a very young child it was hard to get to classes, but you kindly said, "why not bring your daughter along?". Well, I did, and never stopped studying since the Gerard Street studio. I miss you greatly, but you will always continue to inspire me.

Jeff was probably my favorite yoga instructor that I've ever had and the best introduction to Iyengar. I hadn't taken a class with him in years and always wanted to again, but kept putting it off and off. Lesson learned. I'll remember him fondly and wish the best for the family.

It is with much sadness that I learned today from a sailing friend and fellow ELYC member of Jeff's passing. He was such a lovely and humble soul, full of caring and joy. I remember him sailing his boat PIA with his wife Tee for many years and also at the yoga studio in Huntington where his classes were always comforting, challenging and inspiring.
Our condolences to Tee and his entire family.

I wish you peace and healing from the loss of Jeff. He was my first yoga teacher over 30 years ago and he brought the joy of yoga practice into my life. I benefited from his classes for many years leading up to my wedding, my first child, and beyond. He even graciously attended my wedding ceremony. I was very fortunate to meet Jeff and others who learned from him. Namaste to you all, Denise Brazeau

Jeff created a community of caring at Body and Soul. So many of us had a happy home there. His kindness and generosity radiated out to welcome us. His good nature and deep knowledge of yoga taught us all so much. He was a dear friend to me for twenty years. The world will be so diminished without him. Loving condolences to Te, Kelly and Nicki and their families.

Dear Logan family,
It was always a pleasure to take Jeff’s class whether online or in person. Certainly his classes were essential during the pandemic and we’re grateful for his keeping us engaged and amused during those uncertain times. As we chant the invocation to Patanjali we honor Jeff’s teaching and remember a kindred spirit. Namaste.

I took Jeff's class consistently on Saturday mornings for years. He taught me throughout my pregnancy over nine years ago and I continued to study with him afterwards. Jeff was a bastion of kindness when the world felt so unkind. His laughter and his smile brought great comfort to me at a time when I was feeling very much alone. I regret that I have not seen him since the pandemic, although I am entirely grateful to have known him. I send much love and light to his family. I will miss him dearly.

I was so sad to hear about Jeff's passing. For many years pre-pandemic, I used to take his Saturday 8 am class at the old Institute on 22nd Street. I would have to drag myself out of bed to make it, but I made the effort because Jeff's classes were something special. He took a real interest in every one of his students. I remember how one time I was dealing with an injury, he took a lot of time after class to work with me one-on-one, and he followed up on my progress in the weeks after that. He gave everything to his teaching, and he seemed to have endless energy and patience for it. I always walked out of his class feeling restored and ready to face the world. Such a special man, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from him. My condolences to his family and loved ones.

I had the privilege of taking part in Jeff’s class when he was subbing for Richard Jonas. Jeff was full of light, grace, humor and kindness in his teaching. I feel grateful to have known him even for a brief time. It’s with a heavy heart that a wonderful teacher from the Iyengar community has transitioned on. My deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and the Iyengar community.

Jeff is the yoga teacher I'll never forget. He was open-hearted, wise, funny, knowledgeable, compassionate, patient, inspiring, and of particular importance to me, both a cat-lover and a Leonard Cohen fan. He revitalized my yoga practice in so many ways. Yesterday, in ardha navasna, I thought of Jeff because the pose was one we did often in his classes. I remembered the photo of him on his website practicing navasana on the beach with a straw hat on his head. Hours later, through the Institute, I learned that Jeff had passed away. Deepest condolences to his loved ones.

Jeff was the true example of Yoga. He lived his life to emulate the teachings of BKS Iyengar.
Adding his incredible compassion to the mix. I taught teacher training classes under his watchful eye, and no matter how bad my performance was, Jeff would say that it was a great job! He willed be missed by all the souls he touched....
Rest in Peace my brother!!

I am deeply grateful to have been a student of Jeff's at the Iyengar Institute. He was such a marvelous teacher—precise, supportive, and always so generous. He was also the kindest, gentlest soul, and I absolutely loved his sense of humor. One of my favorite memories: after a particularly challenging class, he smiled and instructed all of us: "Now go enjoy a coffee and a chocolate chip muffin, as it is written in the sutras." I am sending all my love and condolences to Jeff's family and loved ones. He will be missed by so many.

I went to my first yoga class with Jeff because I was trying to conceive a child. He told me to drink Lipton tea (it had to be Lipton!) and to do seated wide leg forward bends. I ended up getting pregnant three months later. (My daughter, Julia is now 24 years old). I then had another child Grace, who had a rare disease. I remember after getting the diagnosis going to a class to get “reset.” Over and over again Jeff’s classes got me through. Sadly, 9 years later, I went to his class the morning of her funeral, there was no where else on earth I wanted to be that morning but in that room. I just said to myself yesterday that I don’t know how I could’ve gotten through all I’ve been through without Jeff and yoga and then I got the news of his passing just a few hours later. Jeff touched so very many lives, but he would say it’s the asana that brings the wisdom, not the teacher. Yes, Jeff but the teacher brought the love. I am glad I also got to know Te from the original body and soul. Te- I am sending prayers to you and your whole family. All of the yoga with Jeff taught me how to connect with the eternal spirit within and that helped me to accept the “transition” of Grace and so many other losses as well, I am so grateful for Jeff’s kind, compassionate presence and for all of the wonderful people in class year after year. Te I hope you can feel him near you every single day. In his words -“inhale, lift your head and gazing at the floor slowly open your eyes…lift your gaze to look outward ..namaste.”

Jeff was a kind caring individual who had a Big Heart. For many years I attended his
Yoga classes in person. Then in more recent years, I participated in live Zoom classes.
Jeff had a great sense of humor. He was
a skilled well respected Yoga Instructor.
His classes were always filled with
lessons that both improved your yoga practice on the mat but at times could also influence your perspective, impressions and
decisions off the mat.
Jeff, May You Rest In Peace.
Te, sending you and your family heartfelt hugs, love and strength at this difficult time.

I only knew Jeff through the eyes of my friend, Te, but we were connected in many ways. It’s funny how life brings you into the path of another person and their family and makes you so close to them even though the distance between us was so great.
I so looked forward to meeting Jeff and your family this year - however, I know Jeff’s soul through your eyes which was so much more important when meeting a spiritual master.
Rest and be happy, Jeff - teach yoga to the angels - be yourself in spirit and let your spirit shine through once again - I look forward to meeting you in the next life.
Love to you Te and to your family always - May God and the Universal Spirit Bless All of You! Karen Lea
