Obituary of Clifford F. George
Clifford Francis George (1946-2023)
Cliff George, 76, of Kings Park, New York, died on October 21, 2023. He passed away peacefully at the Northport Veterans Medical Center, surrounded by the love and care of his daughters, friends, and veterans' community.
Cliff was born in Rego Park, NY, the son of Gus George and Dorothea Perucci. Cliff graduated from Chaminade High School, then attended Marquette University and Nassau Community College.
In November 1969, Cliff was drafted into the US Army. He served in Vietnam from 1969-1970, earning the rank of Sergeant and a Bronze Star for his service. Cliff's identity as a Vietnam Veteran was very important to him, and he treasured his connections with other veterans and the VA.
Cliff was deeply loved by his friends and family, and will be remembered for his creativity, charisma, sarcastic sense of humor, and lifelong commitment to the New York Giants. He was proud of and cherished the relationships he had with his daughters and grandchildren, who share his love of music, cooking, and figuring out how things work. Cliff brought these strengths to his work as a photographer, factory manager, deli owner and facilities manager at a local homeless shelter.
Cliff will be mourned by his daughters, Alison Dover (Tony) and Carolyn Cassidy; grandchildren, Corabella, Alia and Cayden; dear friends Bob Dixon & Karen Ferguson, John Pareso, Dave Barton, John Rock, and John Berger; former wife, Abby Staberg; sister Linda Rock; and the many others whose lives he touched.
Cliff will be buried with military honors at the Calverton National Cemetery on what would have been his 77th birthday.
In lieu of sending flowers, please make a donation in Cliff's honor to either Mothers Against Drunk Driving or the Disabled American Veterans, both of which were close to his heart.
