Fiorella – Anthony Jr., of Manhattan and Northport on March 17th, 2024. Retired Judge. Served as a Justice of Bronx, Brooklyn, and New York County Housing Parts. Attended Fordham Prep ('56), University of Detroit ('61), University of Detroit Law School (JD '66) and New York University Law School (LLM '78). Served in the United States Army (Dec. 1961 to Sept. 1963). Worked in the private sector from 1966 to 1976, when he became associated with the court system working as a law secretary to Civil Court judges. In 1981, Anthony became chief law assistant to the Civil Court of the City of New York. He held that position until 1988 when he was appointed judge of the Housing Part of the Civil Court of the City of New York by Justice Israel Rubin. From 1981 he taught landlord and tenant law evening classes at Marymount Manhattan College and remained on staff until 2007. In 1999, Judge Fiorella was elected vice president of the Housing Court Judge's Association and in 2007, he was chosen to serve as president of the organization for two years. Also served as president of the Columbian Lawyers Association from 2001 to 2003. In 2010, Judge Fiorella was chosen to serve on the Alumni Association Board of Directors for the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. After retiring from the bench in 2013 with 25 years of service, Judge Fiorella continued to be active in judicial arbitration and mediation services. Judge Fiorella's exceptional diligence in the courtroom and demeanor outside the court were recognized by several organizations over the years including the Italian American Columbus Alliance, the Kings County Housing Court Bar Association, the Confederation of Columbian Lawyers, and the Small Claims Arbitrators Association. As quarterback of the Fordham Prep football team, Anthony was part of the undefeated, untied 1954 'Ram Squad' team, under the guidance of Hall-of-Fame Coach Joe "Sammy" Ososki. A resident of Manhattan and Northport, NY, in his spare time Tony enjoyed traveling the world with his sister Christine Fiorella Russo (d. 2023) and brother-in-law V. Donald Russo, Esq (d. 2020). Funeral Mass Thursday 10am at St. Philip Neri Cemetery, Northport.
