Obituary of Marian McCann

Marian McCann, a much loved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on April 19, 2024 at the age of 92. She was born in Huntington, Long Island to John and Marie Hansen in 1931. Many Norwegian traditions were shared with Marian, her sister Sylvia Hansen Lester, and late brother, John in the Hansen home. Marian was predeceased by the love of her life, Terry McCann, and survived by her sons Rick and Mike Johnson, daughters Colleen Johnson Clark and Jeanne Ann Johnson Bruno, and stepdaughter and stepson, Eileen Lynn and Terence Kelly McCann. Marian worked as a single mom with four young children in the 60's. She worked for 37 years as the Assistant Executive Director of the Suffolk County Medical Society, retiring at the age of 71. She was resilient, strong, selfless, hardworking, and an inspiration to family and friends. In 1968 she married Terry McCann and the Johnson's and McCann's joined hands at 4 Sun Valley Court in Northport where they lived for 48 years. Marian and Terry were married for 53 years sharing the love of their family, attending numerous sporting and school events. In total Marian had 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Marian was a very proud grandma, always caring and fun loving. Marian was a huge Yankee fan, and according to Marian, a great athlete herself. In addition to the Yankees, she enjoyed the theater, dining with friends and family, and she spent many hours knitting treasures for her grandchildren. We all have great Mom stories that will be shared for many years to come. She will be missed! Visitation Friday May 24th, 6:00 – 8:00 PM and Saturday May 25th, 9:00 -10:30 AM. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
