Obituary of Genevieve Margaret Kowalski

Genevieve Margaret Kowalski passed away on April 27, 2024, at the age of 95.

Born in Huntington Long Island on September 20, 1928, the youngest of 13 siblings to Anthony and Johanna Abramoske, Jen was predeceased by her parents and was the beloved wife of the late Frank George Kowalski for over 60 years before his passing in 2007.

Jen grew up on her parents Melville, New York potato farm and graduated from Farmingdale High School in 1946. She married Frank in 1947 and was a fantastic housewife, loving mother, and bookkeeper for her husband’s family farm in East Northport, New York.

Eventually the family farm was sold to developers and Frank and Jen continued to make their home in East Northport. Frank worked for the Town of Huntington and Jen worked as a clerk for Macy’s, Huntington, for over 25 years until 1996 when she retired. In her elder years, Jen moved to her daughter’s home in Redding, Connecticut in 2012.

Genevieve is survived by her children, Frank, George Kowalski Jr. (wife, Carol) and Mary Jane Bellenot (husband, Ronald). Jen was pre-deceased by her son, George Anthony Kowalski, and his wife Ruthanne Kowalski, both formally of Rocky Point, New York. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and extended family as she was the youngest of 13 children. All her brothers and sisters predeceased her.

Genevieve was a strong, calm, resilient warrior, battling many health issues with grace throughout her senior years in an amazing way. She cherished her beloved grandchildren, Frank George Kowalski III, Jan Ingrid Love (husband Damon), Alicia Gerardo (husband Andy Dzieciaszeky), Georgia Mae Bogad (husband, Shaun), Laura E. Kowalski (partner Justin Olson), Ronald K Bellenot Jr. (partner Kristin Demast), Kevin, Andrew Bellenot (wife Marianna), Steven Michael Bellenot and former partners, Ana Jones and Jessica Dos Santos. As well as her beloved, great grandchildren, Dawn Gerardo, Joel Gerardo, Sophie Perkins, Ethan Costello, Ava Costello, Jorgee Ann Bogad, Zahra Bellenot, Harry Bellenot, William Bellenot, and Brandon Bellenot, Bradley Love, Blake Demast, Paige Demast and Connor Demast.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2nd at NOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 5 Laurel Avenue, Northport, NY from 9:30 – 10:30am. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, 20 Cheshire Place, East Northport, NY at 11am and interment to immediately follow at Genola Rural Cemetery, 140 Laurel Rd, East Northport, NY.
