I don't have a photo except the picture in my mind of Dad & Mr Smith (Smitty) going on a trip somewhere & joining Mom & Mrs Smith shopping at some department store. Dad & Smitty found a lunch counter prop the store had set up & proceeded to sit at the counter waiting to get a cup of coffee. As people would pass the isle they would ask what Dad & Smitty were doing to which they would respond "just waiting for someone to come give us coffee". They continued calmly chatting at the counter until the manager came by, asked they what they were doing, to which they gave the same reply they had to everyone else "just waiting for someone to come serve us coffee". The manager got such a laugh from this that he make some coffee for them to enjoy at the counter. Shortly after receiving their coffee the stores loud system made an announcement "would Mr Smith & Mr Flood pls come to the main service desk. Your wives are done shopping & are waiting for you."
I remember hearing that story over the years & watching both of them laughing so hard as they retold it.
Smitty was such a fun man to chat with. I hope the fond memories & laugh of your Dad, Grampa, Great-Gramp & Father-in-law helps ease his absence.

I wish I could be there to share my wonderful memories of Uncle Edward. He was a warm, kind and funny Uncle who was always enthusiastic about life and never said an unkind word about anyone. I was blessed to have him in my life and will always cherish the happy times that I remember together.

The Flood Family has many memories of laughter with Mr and Mrs Smith. Our parents, Ron and Polly Flood, were best friends with "Smitty" and Joan for almost 80 years.
The joy and laughter that our parents had with Mr and Mrs Smith is a beautiful testament to the life long friendship they shared.
Our deepest condolences to your family during this difficult time. I am sure my father and both of your parents are sitting back and watching over all of us with proud smiles and a glass of their favorite drink in their hand.
You are in our thoughts and prayer

The is from Cathy of the Vail Street Flood,
I heard with great sorrow today of Smitty's passing. I know Smitty was a man of faith and the bible tells us that the age of man is 3 score years and 10 (70). If it's any consolation Smitty beat the odds going away. Even so he will be sorely missed. He was one of the funniest, sweetest men I know and the stories of the "trouble" he and Dad got themselves into will be shared for years to come in our family. My most touching moment with him was at Dad's viewing, after all the other mourners were gone and Mom had left, he pulled out a bottle of Dad's favorite drink (Bourbon), telling us he and Dad had arranged this. He then gave each of the 6 of us (and himself) a glass, poured a dram in each and we toasted a final farewell to a wonderful father and great friend. I hope you all do the same for your Dad and, if so, please toast him for me.

Dad would often tell me how proud he was of all of his children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was so proud of the great parents his children had become. He raised four great kids. I was blessed to have had him as my dad for the last 25 years. From the moment I married into the family he welcomed me as a daughter he was my second dad! I could not have asked for a better father in law. “Father” then him! I love you dad and will miss you till we meet again in eternity. To Kevin,Cindy ,Suzie, Keith know that you were loved beyond belief!
Diane
