I’m so very sorry for your loss. John was my teacher for 3 years in high school. I used to babysit for his children Tori & John. He was not only an excellent school teacher, but an excellent life teacher. I tried to reach out to him a few years back through his daughter. May his memory be eternal, this truly is very sad news, I wish we could have caught up, shared a few laughs and memories of old times.

I was a student of Mr. Friia's from 2000-2002. In just two short years he had changed my life. We kept in touch for several years afterwards. I had recently tried to get in touch with him the last six months or so, and gotten a hold of his phone number maybe six months ago. I'm ashamed to say I only called him once and left him a voicemail, and never heard back. I had just this morning googled his name to try to find his number again and catch up only to stumble upon his obituary. His passing really saddens me.. he had been a mentor to me and I wanted him to know how much he meant to me, twenty years later. Bless you Mr. Friia, you touched a lot of people's lives.

John Fria’s death is a loss for all of us. He was an ardent supporter of all things Regis. He was a regular at the annual Jug Night gatherings where his perceptive comments on the state of our nation’s affairs will be missed. Requiescat in pace. Tom Nacinovich

O Tempora! For more than sixty years John kept the Regis spirit alive. Time takes its toll but the memories will last. Thank you, John, for making this world a better place. RIP

God bless you, John, and may your soul rest in peace. We only reconnected on a regular basis a couple of years ago, though there had been the occasional meetings at Regis reunions.
I am blessed to have had this recent time with you to enjoy hearing your thoughts, always begun and ended with a Latin flourish :) :) And I am saddened by that ending.
Suzy and I shall continue to pray for you as we have since you told us a couple of months ago of your coming surgery. And, for the repose of your soul, we shall have a Mass offered in our parish of St Michael the Archangel here in Portland.
God bless, my friend.
