Stephen D. Casella posted a condolence

Message from Stephen D. Casella.; delivered in Boise Idaho at Mac's farewell party.
I am grateful to Mac's Boise friends and his Methodist family for their warm farewell as he leaves for Long Island, NY.
Mac and I are inexplicably bonded for over 52 years. We partied together, skied together, and enjoyed many road trips together.
(How many times did I meet you in Manhattan after work with my polished '72 T-Bird...and a full tank of gas...and off we'd go!).
We also went to Paris. France, Hawaii, and laughing every minute. Great times!
You were also Best Man at my wedding, and got me to the church on time. I'm also grateful to my son Stephen, who helps complete the travel of life between us, and being there for our lifetime friend.
In the words of Pope John Paul: " Be not afraid..." This was his message of hope in Christ.

I will always recall Mac's hearty and contagious laugh and his easy going nature; but he was a prankster at heart and the life of any party. He was Best Man at our wedding 50 years ago, and Godfather to our son. Loyal to his Mom and Dad, he is with them now
Rest in Peace

Mac was a good friend that I shared an apartment with in Kew Gardens, Queens, NYC fifty-five years ago. We lived in a mostly singles tenants twelve story apartment house, the Forest Park Town House, that had parties it seemed every other night. The entrance fee to a party for us was a 5th of liquor, girls were admitted free. Mac and I trolled these parties and dated many fun-loving stewardesses who were staying in one of our building’s apartments. These stewardesses lived in the building because they rented furnished apartments and was close to both NYC airports.
Mac was an advertising VP executive for ATT Long Lines, a great wit, a writer, an artist, avid reader of WWI airplane stories, a good dancer, had a great laugh, was able to wake up each morning on time without an alarm clock.
My wife and I visited Mac in Boise, Idaho 8 years ago where he led us on a road trip to the local sights including the sight of Evel Knievel’s jump across the Snake River Canyon. When we had dinner the women wait staff greeted Mac like a good friend, or possibly more than that.
He paid for and hosted a religious talk show every Sunday. He once sent us a tape of the show and it was terrific. Mac had a commanding voice made for radio. We enjoyed reading his witty Christmas cards.
Rest in Peace my good friend.

We were blessed to know Mac for over 30 years and saw him at our church, Whitney United Methodist in Boise ID. He moved to Boise and was devoted to his mother before she passed. With Mac,we celebrated many holidays, birthdays and special occasions with Mac. He was a big blessing to so many people in so many ways. He was on several canoeing adventures in Idaho and in the Boundary Waters of Northern Minnesota with friends for a few weeks at a time, travels got better when they found and used a "Duluth" bag and could take steaks and other frozen goodies. He was a great help in the endowment committee with Bill and did a special radio show for our pastor, Rev. Christina Thompson. His journalism degree often showed itself with just a comment like "Pshaw" or this has "grist" which was a delight to his friends. He will be greatly missed and I know I will still talk to him in heaven just to keep him in my life. Blessings dear friend! Linda Slupe
